Set up an iPhone Shortcut so you can share a PDF, a document or a photo straight from any app into a new Claude session on the computer. The remote desktop app does not have to be open.
This exists because Safari cannot put a web app in the iOS Share sheet. A Shortcut can, so the Shortcut does the sharing and this page gives it the key it needs.
Open the Remote Desktop app and press Link a phone to show a pair code. It is good for two minutes.
The PIN has to be stored on the server, because the Shortcut sends a file and nothing else — there is nobody to type a PIN at the moment you share. It is checked once, now, so a wrong one is caught here rather than turning into a share that silently does nothing.
Once paired, this server holds a key that can open a Claude session on your computer. It is a separate paired device called “Shared files”, so you can revoke it from the computer's device list at any time without touching your phone, and the computer still accepts nothing from it except “open a Claude session”. If the computer is set to ask before allowing a connection, it still asks.
Make this once on the iPhone, in the Shortcuts app. Name it something you will recognise in the Share sheet, like Send to Claude.
…X-Share-Token → the token belowX-Share-Name → the input's NameX-Share-Prompt → what Claude should do, e.g. Read this and summarise it (or use an Ask for Input action so you can type it each time)X-Share-Model → opus, fable, sonnet or haiku (optional)Then share anything → scroll to your Shortcut → it lands on the computer. The reply tells you whether it worked, so a failure is never silent.
Copy this into the Shortcut's X-Share-Token header. It is shown once and never again — if you lose it, pair again and you get a new one.
This forgets the key on the server. Any Shortcut using it stops working immediately.
Lost the token? Remove the “Shared files” device on the computer instead — that revokes it from the other end, which is the side that always works.
